You might be right about that. I can see things changing and morphing a little, but hand-held devices were really the big game changer and I can't imagine yet another way to receive the internet that is more convenient. It is pretty amazing to have witnessed it unfold, sort of like how our parents and grandparents did with TV.

haha, great "You" quiz. I could see that on Buzzfeed for sure! Personality quizzes are nothing new though, they tend to have waves of popularity and have appeared on my facebook feed every couple of years. Hell, I used to take them in teen magazines back in the day! hahaha

Wow, I forgot about him. I feel sorry for him with all those copyright claims - he seems to not be the only one. I miss the old days of YouTube

Maybe Facebook will just become the un-hip place to hang on the internet? I think it's too big to be fading away any time soon!

YouTube has created a video to 'What Does the Fox Say' to celebrate 2013, featuring a host of YouTube vloggers, viral video makers, TV shows/stars that have been popular on YouTube and musicians. They also did one last year to 'Gangnam Style.' Here's the link if you haven't seen it. These videos are really well produced like a TV network promo. Made me really reflect on how YouTube has come such a long way since we first logged on to watch LG15 and suspected that it was a production.

Don't forget Avril Lavigne - I hate her too! She only gets somewhere because she's pretty... also she's now married to Chad Kroeger, so lets just hope they don't collaborate! :/ Anyway, this was pretty funny despite the use of Nickleback! haha

I don't remember hearing about this. I suppose it wouldn't have gotten as much media attention here. It's so rare to see a death that is so mysterious in this day and age. I don't know who Tila Tequila is (had to look her up), but what the hell? After her ritualistic murder last year??? Is she a ghost?!

Not every person of a particular belief system (or lack there of), or just a participant of a certain a way of living (e.g. vegetarian, homosexual, heterosexual, farmer, environmentalist, tattoo wearer, TV watcher, book reader etc. etc.) is vocal in trying to convert others to their way of doing things, or even actively wanting to discuss their own beliefs and way of living. I think most people are happy to just live and let live, so I have to say I find it strange you would generalise that way, Mathieas. I think it's common knowledge that there are hundreds of bands that identify themselves as Christian rock bands - the lead singer of Quiet Company was even part of one. This is the first band I've heard of that has been identified as an Atheist rock band. And just because someone identifies as an Atheist or a Christian/Muslim/Buddhist etc. doesn't mean they identify with every attribute that every other Atheist/Christian/Muslim/Buddhist has, or that it's fair for others to attribute other parts to their identity. All that does is lead to stereotyping and discrimination. However I will add on that note, the band themselves don't identify as an Atheist band. They say they wrote one album with an atheist/humanist tone/subject matter and are now ready to move on. Lots of artists have themes they throw themselves into for a period of time but are not confined to that theme. Do we only think of David Bowie as a "space" rock star? Picasso went through several different styles throughout his time painting and didn't let just one style confine him. I am quite a fan of Regina Spektor and she even did an album that was quite focused on religion, but she isn't labelled a religious singer/song writer as she's known more for other attributes. I also don't find this band terribly proselytic. Their lyrics are more self reflective and expressive of a personal account. Most artists do this with one issue or another. Would you call Samuel Beckett proselytic for questioning the existence of God and the the point of human life through his existential plays? I personally would not. I don't think the point of his plays were to propagandise for existentialism, but he was certainly offering his thoughts, expression, philosophies and other takes on the human condition for people to consider and interpret. Art has a different purpose than propaganda. This band are being artists. Atheism is taking a real slide toward humanism in recent times, and this band is definitely humanist which you can see reflected in their lyrics and general approach to their music. Their focus is not to denounce the existance of God or condemn those who participate in organised religion. They are merely expressing themselves whilst discussing issues around faith, existence, love and life. Anyway, I am actually really liking their sound Milo! I think I might have to download the album and give it more of a listen. I think they are brilliant! I'd be interested to see what else they do in future, even if away from the humanist ideas they have as they seem quite intellectual.

I came across this group through John Green's twitter and had some LG15/OpAphid flashbacks. www.facebook.com/thehpalliance?c=upworthyTheir Mission: Our mission is to empower our members to act like the heroes that they love by acting for a better world. By bringing together fans of blockbuster books, TV shows, movies, and YouTube celebrities we are harnessing the power of popular culture toward making our world a better place. Our goal is to make civic engagement exciting by channeling the entertainment-saturated facets of our culture toward mobilization for deep and lasting social change. I find it sort of comical and idealistic, but at the same time I also find myself drawn to their cause too. The social and political messages of our texts in popular culture really don't get enough attention through our media.

I agree, the song is waaaay more shocking for how awful the lyrics and melodies are, than the embarrassing clip. The Seth Rogan and James Franco clip is awesome though! Seth's seductive stares into the camera, zomg! hahaha

I really can't stand this guy. I think he represents all that's wrong with the world... but as little as I think of him, he actually shocked me with this one. The song is like 3 songs clumsily mashed together and the clip is like a cheesy vanity porno produced by the likes of Patrice Wilson (just needs more pandas). What the actual F did I just watch? NSFW...NSF - ANYTIME!!!
