I can't remember exactly which chat event it was, I looked for the audio recording I had made and unfortunately cannot find it. It may be lurking on a backup CD somewhere. Spencer's first video was posted on youtube on on Jun 29, 2007, so it must have been shortly prior to that. The missing lgpedia makes looking this stuff up actually quite difficult.

*blank* may be inadvertently profound, then. its hard to pick a starting point. I think in past discussions we've established that pre-high-speed-internet stuff like "The Spot" was more multimedia than video, part of the first wave of what might be called "webseries" though little resembling what came after youtube came around. essentially they were the first attempts to tell stories online using video as a *component* of the communication.
but it took the widespread availability of high-speed internet and a low-cost video platform (youtube) to let true video-only storytelling to sprout, right? otherwise, lonelygirl15 would have happened in 1996 instead of 2006.
with 7 years since lg15 started now behind us, i think its fair to say lg15 was a monumental but under-recognized influence.
yet even today its technology driving the medium, not the lack or surplus of creativity. terry cited some statistics showing that internet-to-TV access is much lower than i thought, but it is still growing. I suspect that the way that VHS seemed to hold its own for awhile and then flash-out rapidly in favor of DVDs, internet-on-TV viewing will grow. already i ask myself, why isn't every movie ever made available to me on-demand for purchase? i couldn't have conceived of that being possible in 2006.

Um, just wondering why everyone's title is moderator. I don't want it, can I be like something else? please and thank you. what do you want to be? all reasonable title requests will be accommodated.

Perhaps that explains Rob Ford. I am hoping to see a ROB FORD 2016 campaign on twitter soon.
ya know, instagram has only become a big thing since the old cove died. it also appeals to a very young audience, its core audience is teens. its the world's worst collection of selfies; even if they could take good interesting pictures, that's not what they post.

i have seen this one, but it is funny. i don't understand how nickelback can stay popular when the entire internet seems to hate them!

it probably appeals to hard core fans of a youtuber, but it only has 12,000 views after a few days, so it probably won't appeal to a broader audience. frankly, i vaguely remember olgakay from years ago, but the fact that these people now do youtube for their job is kind of weird to me.

That is a gem you kept hidden! the group of sleuthers who were called "stalkers" for trying to track down lonelygirl15, we were mostly a pretty careful bunch at not trying to out private information. i figured if the location of bree's "house" got out, people might show up there. its bad enough that some people figured out where the exterior shots were filmed for a few other videos and went to that house, i don't see why that was necessary. i have few other fun things I will try to track down. Back just before Spencer was introduced, there was a chat event with the creators where they forgot to turn off the microphone and we actually heard them reciting some language for an upcoming video and discussing plot, among other juicy tidbits. It was unbelievable, but we didn't post the audio online, as we didn't want to hurt the show. Does anyone else around remember that?

A couple of weeks ago while coming back from Vancouver BC, where they were opening for "of Montreal", they had a bad traffic accident, no one was seriously hurt but they lost their van, all their equipment and all their gear. what is it with bands and van accidents? obviously, they drive lots of unsafe vans in unsafe conditions, but its amazing how many of these things happen. and the song is pretty good, that keyboard gives it a Doors-esque vibe. --- Heard this for the first time the other day - Spins by Potty Mouth -- this sounds like vintage early 90s indie rock

I wrote one for Greg's birthday that I wouldn't begin to know where to find today. IIRC it was based on "Secret Agent Man" and was sung by Apo. i took a quick look and couldn't find it, i thought it would be under apo's account.
