I've always wondered. Enlighten me, somebody! I came along after it was fully formed and operational.

Here is a link to the OLD COVEMilo can give you the whole sorted story, but until he sobers up and wanders back in you can at least peruse the old forum. Bit of a warning, folks tended to be very cynical and snarky (I know right) also, I never posted there so the reading will be a bit disappointing.

AlissaBrooke did when the old phorum became too bad and unusable. Originally it was called Alissa's LG15 discussion or something until everyone voted on a new name. The LG15 characters were said to have lived in Anchor Cove. I think... my memory is getting a bit rusty.

Actually Anchor Cove was from the casting notice for LG15 where it stated that the production was called The Children of Anchor Cove.
There have been 3, and now 4 versions of Anchor Cove.
Pre-Cove there was the Phorum on the LG15 site. I think we were there for only 4-6 weeks but it was an exciting time. It was when FLWright correctly deconstructed the layout of Bree's room. And it was there that the phorum three (which I was briefly a part of) hatched their IP sting and found the link to CAA. But ultimately it was the poor moderation by Bukanator that led us to create own board.
The First Cove (Sept 2006 - Sept 2007) While we discussed how to go about doing it, AlissaBrooke just went ahead and created the site linked to above. It was probably the peek of the Cove. It lasted for about a year until we moved to the now defunct anchorcove.net - although Milo did sneak a post into the original Cove just a few months ago.
The Second Cove (Oct 2006 - Feb 2007) Anchor-Cove.net never really got off the ground. It was created by VanillaFlava - a German who introduced me to the awesomeness of Twin Peaks. It was sort of like an early attempt at a LG15Today, but without Modelmotion's dedication it never took off. You can still find glimpses of it on archive.org
The Third Cove (Sept 2007 - 2011?) Then there was AnchorCove.net started by me, and now unfortunately due to my poor backing up it is now lost into the internet ether.
The Fourth Cove (Nov 2013 - ?) And now you know the rest of the story.

Terry & Lisa are pretty spot on. (and I totally forgot about VanillaFlava's site!) We were in IRC one night, I believe it was Sept 4, 2006, discussing that the phorum at lonelygirl15.com was getting very busy but no one was actively moderating it, but that the people behind the show were probably also following our investigations too closely and would be acting to foil us. (The contradiction of the Creators having no time to moderate, but having all the time in the world to crack our private messages and divert our sleuthing theories went unnoticed.) Alissa simply went to proboards.com and started the site while we were discussing needing the fan-run site. That's why the url was "alissabrooke.proboards.com", alissa just used her screen name instead of thinking of an lg15-centric name (which soon occurred to her as a dumb move, but it was too late ...) The first person to join after Alissa posted the link was John Green, who was in IRC at the time. The site was busy and active *immediately*. The Message from the Creators came on September 7th (crashing the lonelygirl15.com site and thus helping anchor cove), and the frenzy continued. The start: alissabrooke.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=bin&thread=1617&page=1Here is the timeline of lg15 hunt i created back in september 2006:
