miles tweeted on december 16: Last day in the office @eqal. Will miss the people. Won't miss the commute. this likely means that modelmotion's continuing efforts to get the lgpedia restored are dead. a version will need to be copied from archive.org if any sort of restoration will occur by the fans. meanwhile, the one remaining creator, Greg Goodfried, was injured in an incident with the Order. www.mindie.co/c/WnxGSrc6GNiU

Wooh!
Okay, I haven't been keeping up with EQAL since umm a long time, but how does the owner of a company get fired.
Also, who is running EQAL now?
Also, what does EQAL do now?
Also, what the fuck happened to the U?
I wonder what Miles is going to do now? He just got married, maybe that has something to do with it. Maybe he is going to follow her career, I think she works for a hotel, maybe they are going to travel?
Who gets custody of P. Monkey?
Did anyone think Greg was the brains behind the operation?
Does Miles have to give back his IAWTV membership?
This is, huh.

its a shame we don't have the 2nd cove archives to refer to for this stuff anymore. like lgpedia and lg15.com, pretty much all the source materials for the history of lg15 is slowly disappearing.
ANYWAY, EQAL was bought by a company called "Everyday Health" a year (or two?) ago. The financial terms of the deal were private, though there were some rumors leaked on techcrunch. its possible Miles and Greg each got a few mil out of the deal, believe it or not. I suspect they had to agree to work for Everyday Health for a set period of time. Either that time is now up, or EH and Miles mutually decided it was time for him to move on.
Does EQAL do anything anymore? That's a good question. they still have a website, which now refers to itself as "EQAL Media", with links to some websites still branded with their stuff.

I went to the EQAL wiki page where there have been a few updates that are clearly from EQAL employees and I looked at the list of websites 'built' by EQAL and clicked on a few. All of the ones I clicked were running on WordPress not Umbrella. I wonder if EQAL abandoned Umbrella or if these companies (individuals actually) have abandoned EQAL?
If I recall, EQAL was one of the original partners in Google's big YouTube million dollar giveaway. I don't remember the name but it was something to do with beauty and makeup (I remember because I kept making the joke that when it comes to beauty and makeup advice you can't go wrong with Greg and Miles).

Okay, I decided to go digging.... SEC link 1 According to the SEC report EQAL was sold for 12.5 million. SEC link 2 (terms of sale)Also, interestingly, EQAL's twitter has not been updated since October 2012. Also, most of the sites listed on EQAL's page are actually Everyday Health sites.

am not surprised to hear they abandoned Umbrella. the whole concept that they were going to "leverage" lg15's technology to make new communities was unbelievable to anyone who knew what a cluster the development of lg15.com was.

Shit Happens, no one here knows exactly what happened. Not a good idea to speculate you may get a hernia.

miles seems to be claiming he got the lg15 IP rights back, so that lgpedia will be returning. we'll see .... You know the economics are finally there to support a webseries. One needs look no further than what Hank Green and Bernie Su have managed to accomplish. They aren't making massive amounts of money but it is sustainable and profitable. I don't know if an LG15 remake would work, unless they got Jess back with a plausible well written thought out reason why Bree isn't worm food, but there is no reason they have to retread old ground. They could take what they learned from LG15: pretty people, suggestive titles, and appealing thumbnails coupled with mystery, interactivity, and operant conditioning to make a new series in a similar vein. The premise could be almost anything. Pretty high school girl learns her parents are spies and goes on the run with the help of a mysterious handsome stranger. Pretty college girl learns that her new sorority is harboring a deep secret that she must unravel with the help of her surprisingly attractive nerdy friend (who is secretly in love with her). Pretty college grad gets an internship in Washington and uncovers a government conspiracy to spy on Americans and with the help of a nerdy (but handsome) guy endeavors to expose the abuse.

Judging from Miles tweets I think something could be brewing here. First of all any type of comeback would have to include something lg15 related, at least to start. I don't think a new series "from the minds that brought you lg15" would pull the same amount of publicity as lg15 continuing. With the NSA, IRS, even healthcare reform there is enough conspiracies for the Order to have orchestrated. You actually could have a smart political thriller.
Early EQAL plans called for it to essentially be the first MCN. I can see how Miles might want to revisit that.

Well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Miles is recently married and I doubt LG15 is top of his priority list right now.
