It will be interesting to see how this changes Twitter. Like how you have to pay real money on Facebook to promote posts etc. since it went public. I have to admit that I have never been able to get into Twitter though. I really don't think its purpose is very useful to me, and I seem to be the odd one out :/

Twitter reaches so many more people if you are trying to promote a business, in my opinion - people that who may not follow you. I like twitter but just now really understanding it Now - what's up with Facebook? So I have a business page and can monitor how many "reaches" my status update gets. Why when you post a status update with an attached picture does it reach such a low number of people versus just a plain text status update - the amount of people that is reaches like triples..... anyone know what I am talking about?

There are two things everyone wants, to be connected and to be famous. Twitter feeds into both of those needs, even though no one really reads all the tweets of the peeps that they follow.
Also, celebs love it because it feeds into their ego and fans love it because it allows them to think they are collected to their favorite celeb. (There is a guy in Germany who replies to every single one of Taryn Southern's tweets.)
Also, business like it for promoting goods. There are certain companies (like Walmart) that have auto tweets set up or actual people who respond whenever you mention its name (Kind of like an Internet version of Bloody Mary.)

Not all read every tweet but some do and it works.

I read today that Twitter's stock has dropped.
