Making the English news rounds today is a story from Turkey, where a contestant on a reality dating show earlier this week admitted to murdering both his first wife and a subsequent lover on the show. Sadly for him, he was asked to leave the show without making a love match. (The show is called "Ne Çıkarsa Bahtına" (Luck of the Draw) on the FlashTV network. It was first reported in the Turkish papers, who by now reporting about all the other papers around the world reporting on it.)

Man on TV dating show reveals killing first wife, lover
(milo: at first i didn't realize this meant two people he killed)

A 62-year-old man looking for a wife on a TV dating show stunned the host and studio audience by revealing that he had murdered his first wife and later killed a lover with an ax during an argument. [First question: Do we really think the producers did not know this already? There's no way they don't ask about criminal background, they don't want to be liable if say, a contestant MURDERS his match.]
Sefer Calinak casually mentioned his ["]complicated["] history with women while appearing this week on Flash TV's The Luck of The Draw, the Turkish newspaper Hurriyet Daily News tweeted Thursday.
He was quick to add, however, that he is now an "honest person looking for a new wife." [sure he is.]
Calinak said he had eloped with his first wife, who was also his cousin, when they both were 17, after the girl's family tried to force her to marry a widower. He said things changed after they lived with his family for five months.
"Her behavior changed. The nephew of the man who wanted to marry her started to come to our village. I was jealous and I killed her, in a way," Çalınak said, according to the newspaper. ["in a way" - hmm, the translation here is interesting, did he really kill her, or just feels he led to her death?]
Calinak said he was freed from prison in an amnesty after serving more than four years on a 13-year prison term. [13 years? he killed her.]
After remarrying, he separated from his second wife, with whom he had two children, the newspaper says. [apparently this woman is still alive as far as we know.]
He then began an affair with a married woman, Coquette, who reneged on a promise to divorce her husband for him. [Coquette? REALLY? The definition of coquette is "a woman who likes to win the attention or admiration of men but does not have serious feelings for them"]
The couple got in an argument, and he was defending himself with an ax while standing behind a door. [sounds plausible ....]
"I killed her after she tried to kill me," he said. "She was accidentally killed when I swung the ax." [OMG! What weapon did she have? None, i expect. i think my favorite murder defense of all time is now "She was accidentally killed when I swung the ax." how OJ simpson did not use this airtight defense is beyond me.]
This time he served a six-year term before he was freed in another amnesty. [Lesson: If you want to kill your lover, move to Turkey. The prison sentences go down for repeat offenders.]
At this point, the host of the program asked Calinak to leave, but he kept insisting he was a victim of "destiny." [Please tell me this isn't the name of the female host of the dating show.]
"Bad luck always found me," he said. "In spite of everything, I still want to get married. This time I'll leave it to God. "
Gözde Kurt, the show's producer, told the daily Milliyet newspaper that Çalınak had acknowledged before the program that he had murdered someone, but he was allowed to appear because he had served his legal sentence.
[AH THEY KNEW. I SMELL A SETUP. But i bet that OJ is literally trying to get booked on there now.]
